What is HANDY?

What is the Broward County Foster Parent Association?

HANDY is a unique organization which provides a lifeline for the abused, neglected, dependent youth in Broward County who are under court protection. We respond to their needs and enrich their lives on a day-to-day basis….one child at a time.

We provide emergency funds and network to "fill the cracks" in meeting their needs for food, clothing, specialized medical and dental services. Our free clothing bank, located in close proximity to the court-house, is available to every child and family under court protection. Your donations are encouraged as it is supported strictly with community help. We also provide funds for school field trips and social activities as well as summer camp. Funds are made available to our at-risk youth for tutoring programs, vocational and educational scholarships. We collect holiday gifts, provide food baskets and offer many specialized activities to ensure that these children are not doubly abused by the system.

HANDY (Helping Abused, Neglected, Dependent Youth) membership is open to any interested person by paying $25 for individual membership, $50 for joint membership or $100 for corporate members. For more information about HANDY please contact (954)523-7210 or (954)523-7080 (Clothing Bank).
